Research Focus: Freedom and Democracy in East Asia - A Comparative Perspective
Taiwan provides a compelling example of vibrant democracy in action, where society actively engages with complex issues such as historical justice for past state violence, indigenous rights restoration, and LGBTQ+ rights. Through comparative analysis, I examine the historical development, philosophical underpinnings, and institutional frameworks of freedom and democracy across East Asia, including Japan, and their place in the global context.
